Located on the Hawaiian island of Kauai, a large collection of
Hawaiian artifacts is available for the public to see. If you even
have just a passing interest in the history of Hawaii, an
afternoon at the Kauai Museum is going to be a pleasure. The
collection is held in two buildings, the Albert Spencer Wilcox
building (built in 1924) and the William Hyde Rice building (built
in 1960.)
No matter your age, you're going to get something out of the trip.
And, depending on how old you are, you'll pay a different price to
get in. Admission starts |
at free for children under 5, $1 for
children up to 12, $3 for children up to 17, $8 for senior citizens
and $10 for adults. If even these prices are too high, every first
Saturday of the month is "free family Saturday" with families all
getting into the Kauai Museum for free.
The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. On
Saturdays, they open an hour later at 10 a.m. and they're closed on
Sundays. This is more than enough time to get in a great look at
Hawaiian culture and maybe even learn a little something. Located at
4428 Rice Street in Lihu'e, Hawaii, you can call (808) 245-6931 for
more information. If you're going to be in the area, this is a place
you have to stop and see, if only for a few hours. In those few hours,
you're going to get a fascinating look at Hawaii's past.
