Lanai

Known as "The Pineapple Island" or "The Private Isle", most of Lanai used to be a pineapple plantation, run by the Dole Food Company, but is being phased out by tourism as the leading industry on the island. Lanai has a land mass of 140 square miles and a population of only about 2,500 residents who mostly live in or around Lanai City - the islands only town. Lanai is home to two luxury five-star hotels which are both managed by Four Seasons Hotels. Manele Bay Resort is located on the beach while the Lodge at Ko'ele is located inland. Another interesting fact about Lanai is it was the location where Bill Gates had his wedding - renting out the entire island for the event!
