If you're going to be on Maui,
Hawaii, stopping at Charles Lindbergh's Grave is recommended.
Located at the Palapala Ho'omau Church in the town of Kipahulu on
Maui, you can see why he spent his last days in the area when you
look around at the beautiful landscape. The church is located a
few miles south of Hana, found on a small road off the highway.
The church is really simple and unassuming, but it fits perfectly
with the area.
Built in 1857, the Palapala Ho'omau Church is a great resting
place for this aviation hero. It's said |
that he sketched his coffin and grave
himself shortly before he died in the summer of 1974. When you see it,
there's not too much to it, not when you take into account who Charles
Lindbergh was and what he accomplished. This isn't going to be a stop
for everyone, but if you're into aviation, you're going to want to
make a journey to see the final resting place of this captain of the
skies.
Even if you're not into planes and aviation too much, this is a good
place to stop. From the church itself to the beauty of the surrounding
countryside, there are a lot of reasons you might make this a stop if
you're on the island of Maui. If you're looking for a destination that
isn't going to be swamped with tourists and want a good little side
journey while you're on Maui, this is going to be a good bet.
