In the shallow, warm water that surrounds
the Hawaiian islands, the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary was
set-up to help protect and preserve the large majestic sea creatures.
Created by the US Congress in 1992 to protect humpback whales, the
area consists of all waters less than 600 feet in depth. This
encompasses a lot of area, though, that's used by humpback whales.
The sanctuary also serves as a way to educate people on one of the
natural wonders of Hawaii (the humpback whale). |
A lot of research is
also conducted here, with knowledge gained that benefits people
everywhere, especially the whales. While this might sound a little
stuffy, there's actually a lot of fun to the learning. With offices
and Facilities all around Hawaii, the Humpback Whale National Marine
Sanctuary is a big part of Hawaii, and something you should check out
if you have any interest in the area and what's being done to preserve
the delicate ecosystem.
With events at all locations throughout the year, visitors can call
1-800-831-4888 to get current information on everything that's
available from the Humpback Whale National Marine Sanctuary. If you
have time, this is a great way to investigate a little about Hawaii
and what they're doing to protect their wildlife and oceans. From
stopping at the visitor center to watching whales up close and from a
distance, there are a lot of different activities for all types of
people. If you've ever had a fascination with whales, this is a must
stop place if you're going to be in Hawaii. For everyone else, it's
still going to be exciting - especially the whale watching. You don't
know until you experience it yourself.
