The O'heo pools are also known to some as
the Seven Sacred Pools, but don't let the mystical name turn you away.
This is actually a great place to see some of the natural wonders of
Hawaii if you're on the island of Maui. Located on the eastern coast
of the island, they've drawn a lot of people over the years. If you
go, you'll see why. A series of waterfalls (bustling with action and
energy) combined with still pools (quiet and tranquil) will leave you
really liking this place.
Part of the Haleakala National Park, the pools are |
open to the public, which is great if
you're in the area. It's easy to see why someone would want to grab
all this beauty for themselves, but luckily someone was thinking and
it's a place everyone can enjoy. From historical sites in the area to
cliff jumping to hiking trails, there's a lot to do in the area, even
if you're not usually one for outdoor activities. Once you take in
your first glimpse of the waterfalls, you're going to be mesmerized.
There's so much to do in the area that it's going to take a while if
you really want to experience the O'heo Pools. Located near the small
town of Hana, it's good to get here early because there's a big
parking lot, but it quickly fills as the day progresses. If you want
to get a good spot, get there at 10 a.m. when they open and be
prepared to spend the day in a little public section of paradise on
Maui.
