Foster Botanical Garden: Paradise in Oahu, Hawaii
 |
The Foster Botanical Garden (one of a few
Honolulu Botanical Gardens), is located on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Any
pictures or videos about Hawaii being paradise don't do justice to the
beauty and the Garden of Eden atmosphere found at Foster Botanical Garden. In 1930,
the City and County of Honolulu donated land for the creation of the
garden, which opened to the public on November 30, 1931. Since then,
it has grown to over 13 acres from the original 5.5 acres of the
garden. Also, many other gardens have been started around it, adding
to the botanical appeal of the area. |
Foster Botanical Garden is home to several 'sub-gardens' spread over
the land. From a prehistoric garden to an area dedicated to orchids
(something Foster Botanical Garden is well known for all over the
world) to an economic garden,
Foster Garden is home to an absolutely stunning collection of plants
and flowers from all over the world, which makes it a big draw for
people who love flowers. And as mentioned, Foster's has some prize
winning orchid collections, which is a draw for even more people.
Whether you have a passing appreciation for flowers or you grow your
own and like to see what other people have been able to achieve, a
visit to Foster Botanical Garden is something that's highly
recommended if you're in Honolulu. While one of the other nearby
garden's might be more to your liking, Foster Botanical Garden has a
rich and cultured history in the area. A lot of botanical wizardry has
gone into making it one of the world's finest gardens, a showcase of
the beauty possible when man meets nature halfway and they dance
together.
